Control Administration Overview

The Control Administration page in NOV Insight provides administrators with essential tools to manage data sources, configure settings, and oversee system notifications. The interface is designed to help users seamlessly monitor and control various data inputs and device statuses.

1. Main Features and Navigation

I. Settings Menu (Left Sidebar)

    • The left panel provides access to key settings, including:
      • Control Administration: Main dashboard for system management.
      • Admin Data Management: Manage data records and system logs.
      • Notification Settings: Configure alerts and system notifications.
      • Datasource Settings: Add and manage data sources.
      • Templates: Define standardized data input formats.
      • Customer Configuration: Manage client-specific settings.
      • Install Application: Deploy software updates or additional modules.
    • Below is the layout for accessing the Control Administration page:

II. Configured Sources Section

    • Displays a list of all configured data sources.
    • Shows key attributes such as:
      • Data Source Name
      • Device Address
      • Device Status
    • If no data sources are configured, the message "No data to display" will appear as shown below:

III. Search and Filtering

    • Users can search for specific data sources using the search bar at the top.

IV. Configure Data Source Button

    • Located at the top-right of the interface.

    • Allows users to set up new data sources.

V. Pagination Controls

    • Located at the bottom-right, enabling users to navigate through multiple data sources when available.

2. Steps to Configure a Data Source

I. Select "Configure Data Source" and navigate to Data Source Control Settings

    • In the Control Administration panel, select the Data Source Control Settings section.

    • The screen will display available Data Source and Edge Device options.

II. Select a Data Source and Edge Device

    • Choose a data source from the available list (e.g., NOV Demo Blender).

    • Select an appropriate edge device (e.g., Max Insight 3).

    • Add a channel to start configuring the device as below:

III. Define Control Parameters

    • Under the Control Type column, select the type of control you want to configure.

    • In the Resource column, verify the assigned resource (e.g., Import-gen-FileGen).

IV. Assign an Edge Tag

    • Click the Select tag... field to assign an edge tag to the control.

V. Choose an Insight Channel

    • The Insight Channel column will display the associated channel (e.g., Auger 1 RPM).

VI. Set Limiting Values

    • Choose between Custom Limiter or PLC Limiter options.
    • Enter the Low Limit and High Limit values to define acceptable operational thresholds.

VII. Additional Settings

    • Click the Add Parameter (+) button if additional parameters need to be configured.
    • Check the Read-only box if the parameter should not be modified.

VIII. Finalizing and Saving Configuration

    • If all required fields are set, the warning messages will disappear.
    • Click Add Channel to save the configuration.
    • The table will display the saved Device configuration as shown below.

 

Notes:

  • If Resource, Tag, and Channel are not set, the system will display an error message as shown below.

  • At least one limiter (Low Limit or High Limit) must be specified.
