Navigating Admin Data Management

The Admin Data Management module allows users to configure default properties for data channels from a selected data source. Follow the steps below to navigate and use this feature.

 

Step 1: Selecting a Data Source

  • Navigate to Admin Data Management through the Settings page of the Insight application.
  • Click on the Select Data Source button.
  • A dropdown panel will appear on the left side.
  • Click the dropdown and choose the desired Data Source from the available options.
  • Once selected, the system will load the associated channels for that data source.


Step 2: Configuring Channel Properties

  • After selecting a data source, a list of associated channels will be displayed as shown below:

  • The table contains the following configurable properties for each channel:
    • Channel: Name of the data channel.
    • Display Name: Editable field to rename the channel display name.
    • Range Low/High: Set the acceptable data range (default: Auto).
    • Precision: Adjust decimal precision for the channel values.
    • Display UOM (Unit of Measurement): Assign an appropriate unit (e.g., rpm, psi, h).
    • Default Color: Modify the color representation for visual graphs.
    • Value Mapping: Allows users to associate specific values with custom labels, improving data readability and representation. Enhances data visualization and interpretation, making numerical data more meaningful. 
      • Clicking the "+" under "Value Mapping" enables custom value associations for better data representation.

3. Click on each attribute cell for Display Name, Range, Precision, Display UOM, Default Color to modify values.

4. Adding Value Mappings

  • Click the "+" (plus icon) next to the desired channel to open the Value Mapping configuration window.
  • Once the Value Mapping window opens:

    You will see an option to manually add mappings or upload a CSV file.

  • To manually enter mappings:
      • Click the "+" (plus icon) inside the window.
      • Input a specific value and its corresponding label (e.g., "1 = Active", "0 = Inactive") followed by its description.

      • To upload multiple mappings at once:
        • Click Download Template to get a CSV file format.
        • Fill in the CSV with the required mappings.
        • Click Upload to import the file

        • After adding the necessary mappings, the Save button gets activated. Click Save to apply the changes.
        • If you need to discard changes, click Cancel.

Additional Features

  • Use the search bar to quickly find a specific channel.
  • Pagination controls at the bottom allow browsing through multiple pages of data.
