The Data Sources module in Max Insight allows users to configure, manage, and enable/disable different data sources. This section outlines how to view, add, and manage data sources effectively.

Step 1: Viewing Existing Data Sources

  • Navigate to the Data Sources section under Datasource Settings.

  • The table displays:
    • Data Source Type: The category of data source (e.g., Aveva PI Server).
    • Details:
      • Name: Specifies whether the data source is for Live Data or Replay Data.
      • URL: Endpoint used for data retrieval.
      • PI Server Name: Identifies the server handling the data.
    • Actions:
      • Enable/Disable Toggle: Switches the data source on or off.
      • Edit (Pencil Icon): Allows modifications to the data source configuration.
      • Delete (Trash Icon): Removes the data source.

Step 2: Adding a New Data Source

  • Click the "+ Add Source" button in the top-right corner.

  • A selection window appears, displaying different types of data sources.
  • Use the search bar to quickly find a specific data source type.

  • Click on the desired data source type to proceed with configuration.

Step 3: Configuring the Data Source

  • Click Configure to continue setting up the selected data source.
  • A configuration window will appear (as shown in the screenshot below).

  • Enter a Data Source Name in the provided field.
    • This should be a unique identifier for the data source.
  • Under Service Account Authentication, click the Login button to authenticate.
    • This may require entering credentials or granting access through an external authentication system. For Example: Okta Verifcation and Authentication.

Step 4: Finalizing the Configuration

  • After authentication, verify all details are correct.
  • Click Save to complete the setup.
  • If you want to discard changes, click Cancel.

Additional Notes:

  • Some data sources may require additional configuration settings depending on the type.
  • If authentication fails, ensure that the correct credentials are used or that the account has necessary permissions.
  • Once saved, the new data source will appear in the Data Sources list, where it can be enabled, edited, or deleted.
