The Data Sources module in Max Insight allows users to configure, manage, and enable/disable different data sources. This section outlines how to view, add, and manage data sources effectively.
Step 1: Viewing Existing Data Sources
- Navigate to the Data Sources section under Datasource Settings.
- The table displays:
- Data Source Type: The category of data source (e.g., Aveva PI Server).
- Details:
- Name: Specifies whether the data source is for Live Data or Replay Data.
- URL: Endpoint used for data retrieval.
- PI Server Name: Identifies the server handling the data.
- Actions:
- Enable/Disable Toggle: Switches the data source on or off.
- Edit (Pencil Icon): Allows modifications to the data source configuration.
- Delete (Trash Icon): Removes the data source.
Step 2: Adding a New Data Source
- Click the "+ Add Source" button in the top-right corner.
- A selection window appears, displaying different types of data sources.
- Use the search bar to quickly find a specific data source type.
- Click on the desired data source type to proceed with configuration.
Step 3: Configuring the Data Source
- Click Configure to continue setting up the selected data source.
- A configuration window will appear (as shown in the screenshot below).
- Enter a Data Source Name in the provided field.
- This should be a unique identifier for the data source.
- Under Service Account Authentication, click the Login button to authenticate.
- This may require entering credentials or granting access through an external authentication system. For Example: Okta Verifcation and Authentication.
Step 4: Finalizing the Configuration
- After authentication, verify all details are correct.
- Click Save to complete the setup.
- If you want to discard changes, click Cancel.
Additional Notes:
- Some data sources may require additional configuration settings depending on the type.
- If authentication fails, ensure that the correct credentials are used or that the account has necessary permissions.
- Once saved, the new data source will appear in the Data Sources list, where it can be enabled, edited, or deleted.
