Creating a Template in Max Insight

The Templates module in Max Insight allows users to create and manage predefined templates for dashboard visualizations. This section outlines how to create a new template.

 

Step 1: Navigating to the Templates Section

  • In the left-hand menu, click on Templates under the Settings section.
  • If no templates exist, a message will appear stating, "It looks like you don’t have any templates yet..."


Step 2: Starting a New Template

  • Navigate to Templates from the left-hand menu.
  • Click Create Template to begin designing a new dashboard.
  • The system will open a blank template with a message:
    "Start with a widget or panel"
  • Choose between:
    • Add Widget – Insert a single visualization or component.
    • Add Panel – Create a collection of widgets within a panel layout.

Step 3: Adding Widgets or Panels

  • Clicking Add Widget or Add Panel opens a widget selection menu on the right as shown below:

  • Available options include:
    • Panel – A collection of widgets.
    • Button – Adds interactive buttons to the dashboard.
    • Tabs – Organizes content into tabbed sections.
    • Gauges – Various styles (Label, Linear, Circular, Status) to display live data values.
    • Charts – Line charts, bar charts, and XY plots for data visualization.
    • Tables – Standard and advanced tables to display structured data.
  • Drag and drop widgets or panels onto the template workspace.
  • Configure each widget’s data source, formatting, and behavior.
  • Resize and arrange widgets as needed.
  • Refer to the article Widget Layout to finish creating the template.
  • Save the Dashboard Template after creation.

  • Use the search bar at the top to quickly find a specific widget.

Step 4: Saving the Template

  • After designing the template, click the Save icon at the top-right corner.
  • Enter a Template Name and confirm the save.


Step 5: Accessing the Newly Created Template

  • Click on the left-hand panel to select Settings page.

  • Clicking on the Templates option will display all the templates created by you on the screen as below: 

  • Click the three-dot menu (⋮) on the template’s card to open the options menu.

  • The following actions are available:
    • Open in new tab – Opens the template in a separate tab for viewing/editing.
    • Share – Allows sharing the template with other users.
      • A Template can be shared privately or publicly as shown below:
      • Save will allow to save the settings.

    • Make a copy – Duplicates the template for modification or backup.
    • Remove – Deletes the template from the system.
