Configuring Admin Alarms

Insight Admin Users need to follow the steps to configure a new Admin Alarm.

1. Select Data Source

  • Select the data source from the dropdown list to configure admin alarms for a specific source.
  • The User will be prompted to add an alarm as shown below.

2. Add Alarm

  • Clicking on the " Add Alarm" button will prompt the user to select a channel for which the alarm needs to be added.

  • User Admins can choose between adding a Threshold Alarm or PLC Alarm.

3. Thresholds and PLC Faults

  • Thresholds – Configure alarm thresholds (Low, High, Critical).
  • PLC Faults – Configure faults related to programmable logic controllers.

4. Select Channel 

  • Select any channel from the drop-down list that pops up on clicking the channel tile to add an alarm as below:

  • Configure the alarm based on the Configuration Table below:

5. Alarm Configuration Table

  • Below is a description of the Alarm configuration table
Column Description
Channel Name of the channel being monitored.
Description Description of the configured alarm.
Current Value Real-time value of the data channel.
Fault (LL) Lower-level fault threshold value.
Alert (L) Lower-level alert threshold value.
Alert (H) Higher-level alert threshold value.
Fault (HH) Higher-level fault threshold value.
Cooldown Period

Minimum time before the alarm can be triggered again.

Configure the Cooldown Period as:

  1. Enable Cooldown
    • Click the checkbox under the Cooldown Period column to enable it for a specific channel (e.g., "Auger 1 RPM").
  2. Set Cooldown Value
    • Enter a numeric value in the orange-bordered input box next to the checkbox. Example: 30
  3. Select Time Unit
    • Click the dropdown next to the value input.
    • Choose one of the following time units:
      • sec – second
      • min – minutes
      • hr – hours
      • days – days
    • Example: 30 sec means the alarm will not trigger again until 30 seconds after the condition has returned to normal.
  4. Save and Confirm
    • Ensure all changes are saved and the alarm configuration is active (green toggle under Enable Alert).

⚠️ Note: If cooldown is enabled, a non-zero value must be provided, and a unit must be selected, or the system will flag an error.

 

 

  • Below is a layout of the configuration options:

6. Notification Settings

  • Choose how you would like to be notified of the alarms based on the description and layout below:
    Icon/Option  Description
    📱 (Phone Icon) Enables or disables SMS notifications for the alarm.
    📧 (Envelope Icon) Enables or disables email notifications for the alarm.
    ✅ (Checkmark Icon) Indicates that the alarm is enabled and active.
    Enforced Toggle When enabled, the alarm settings are locked for all users, ensuring they cannot modify or disable the alarm.
    Add Group (+) Allows you to assign the alarm to a group. You can either:
    Add Existing Group – Select a predefined group.
    Add New Group – Create a new group for custom configurations.
    Enable Alert Toggle When enabled, the alert is active and will notify users when triggered.
    🔒 (Lock Icon)  Indicates that the alarm is locked and cannot be edited or disabled by non-admin users.
    🗑️ (Trash Icon)  Deletes the alarm from the configuration.
  • You can create a new user group for alarm notifications as shown below:

7. Alarm Controls

  • Enables user to have an overall control to
    • Suspend Alarms – Temporarily disable all alarms.
    • Copy to – Copy alarm configurations to other channels or data sources.
    • Add Alarm – Create a new alarm for the selected data source as shown in Step 2.

8. Enforced Toggle Settings for Alarms

  • When enabled, the alarm becomes locked for all users.
  • Users cannot modify, disable, or delete enforced alarms.
  • When disabled, users can configure their own alarms for the same channel.
  • Below is a screenshot of Enforced Toggle.

9. Search

    • Use the search bar to quickly find a specific channel or alarm.
