The Dashboard feature in MAX Insights allows users to create customizable dashboards for data visualization and analytics. Follow the steps below to Create and Orient to configure a new dashboard.
Step 1: Creating a New Dashboard
- Click the Create Dashboard button.
- This will open an interactive New Dashboard creation screen.

Step 2: Orienting to the New Dashboard

The new dashboard screen provides a more intuitive and customizable interface for visualizing your data. Users can configure their view with templates, adjust layouts, and set timeframes to streamline their experience.
- Below is a layout and description of each feature on the dashboard
1. Dashboard Title – Displays the name of the dashboard. By default, it shows "New Dashboard" until renamed. Hover over the title and click on the pencil to edit the title based on your need.
2. Home Button – Navigates back to the main dashboard or homepage.
3. Dashboard Menu – Expands/collapses the sidebar menu for accessing different dashboards from Recently Viewed list or My Dashboard List, search an existing dashboard or adding a new dashboard.
4. Alarms and Notifications: This Bell Icon, opens the Alarm and Notifications to view and acknowledge Active Alarms quickly and configure new alarms and their notifications settings for devices. Please visit Alarms and Notification Section for detailed steps.
5. Settings – Access system settings and administrative controls. Please visit Settings Section for detailed steps.
6. Save Button: Save your dashboard configurations using the Save button as below:
7. More Options (Three Dots Menu) – Opens additional settings and customization options for the dashboard. User can directly choose from the 3 options available to either apply an existing template, create a new template, or view the dashboard based on their choice by applying different view settings.
- Apply a Template: Allows the user to select a pre-configured dashboard template for quick setup. Please visit Template section for more detailed steps.
- Create Template: Enables the user to design and save a new dashboard layout as a template. Please visit Template section for more detailed steps.
- View Settings: Opens a configuration panel for adjusting the layout and display preferences. View Settings Panel allows the user to adjust the dashboard’s display preferences.
- Fixed Layout – The dashboard uses scrolling for navigation.
- Fit to View – Expands the dashboard to fit the full screen.
- Fit to Width – Expands the dashboard to fit the screen width.
- Compact Layout Checkbox – Reduces spacing for a more condensed dashboard view.
- Apply Button – Saves the selected view settings.
8. Sync Toggle – Enables or disables automatic synchronization of data.
- Toggle On: All widgets will sync their time and zoom settings.
- Toggle Off: Time and Zoom settings will apply to only the selected widget on the dashboard.
- The zoom reset icon
allows to reset the zoom to its original state.

9. Advanced Time Settings Icon - gear icon (⚙️) – Manually refreshes the dashboard to load the latest data.
- Upon clicking on the gear icon, a dropdown menu labeled Advanced Settings will appear.
- Sync to Data Timestamp
- On: The end of the time range aligns with the last data point received.
- Off: The end of the time range updates dynamically to the browser’s current time.

Use Asset Local Time

If enabled, data timestamps will align with the asset’s local time instead of the default time zone.
- Once you have selected the desired settings, they will be applied immediately.
- Close the menu to continue working on the dashboard.

10. Timeframe Selector – Allows users to set the time range for data visualization (e.g., last 2 hours, custom ranges).
11. Add Widget Icon– Opens a widget library to customize the dashboard with different visualization components. More details can be found in Adding widgets section.
Step 3: Configuring the Dashboard

Once the new dashboard screen opens, you can configure it using three options:

Applying a template

Step 4: Knowing New Dashboard Layout Ribbon
A newly configured dashboard with any widget will look as below. The highlighted options are described as below:
1. Dashboard Title: Displays the title of the Dashboard. This can be edited by clicking on the pencil sign.
2. Widget Display Name: This can be found in widget settings
3. Save button.
4. More Vertical Settings (3 dots): Located in the top-right corner of the widget, this menu allows you to manage and customize the widget:

Open in new tab – View the chart in a dedicated browser tab.

Apply a Template – Use a saved template to quickly configure the widget.

Create Template – Save the current widget configuration as a reusable template.

View Settings – Customize chart settings such as axis, thresholds, or channel display.

Share – Generate a shareable link or dashboard view.

Make a Copy – Duplicate the widget within the dashboard.

Export – Download chart data in a CSV or image format.

Remove – Delete the widget from the dashboard.
