Introduction to Widgets
Widgets are essential components that allow users to visualize data dynamically on their dashboards. They enable real-time monitoring, trend analysis, and interactive engagement with data. By adding widgets, users can customize their dashboards to track performance metrics, display live values, and create meaningful insights from raw data. Widgets are the powerful tools that make data visualization intuitive, real-time, and actionable. By customizing dashboards with widgets, users can efficiently monitor performance, make data-driven decisions, and enhance their operational insights.
Follow the steps to learn how to configure a dashboard widget.
Step 1: Understanding Add Widget Layout
- Click on the "Add Widget" button from the dashboard interface.
- The Add Widget button opens an interface for walking users through the creation of a dashboard.
- A widget selection panel will appear on the right side of the screen.
- The interface has two tabs: Basic and Advanced.
- The Basic tab is arranged in three sections: Layout, Gauges, and Charts. Each section allows users to add features to a dashboard.
- The Advanced tab includes only one section and allows uses to add a camera feed to a dashboard and use Set Point Control feature.
- Browse through available widgets categorized under Layout, Gauges, and Charts.
- Select a widget type that best fits your data visualization needs.
Step 2: Knowing Basic Tab Options
- The Basic tab is arranged in three sections:
1. Layout Widgets
-
- Panel – A collection of multiple widgets grouped in a structured format.
- Button – Adds interactive buttons for user actions.
- Tabs – Organizes different sections of the dashboard for easier navigation.
2. Gauge Widgets (For Real-time Data Monitoring)
-
- Label Gauge – Displays a live numerical value.
- Linear Gauge – A horizontal/vertical bar showing real-time value changes.
- Vertical Tank Gauge – Monitors tank levels in industrial applications.
- Circular Gauge – A radial indicator of live value.
- Sparkline Gauge – Shows live value with a trend line for historical context.
- Status Gauge – Displays boolean values (true/false) in a gauge format.
3. Chart Widgets (For Data Visualization & Analysis)
-
- Line Chart – Plots live values over time with a trend line.
- Bar Chart – A bar representation of data distribution.
- Table – Displays structured data in tabular form.
- Advanced Table – Provides enhanced filtering and sorting capabilities.
-
- Each section allows users to add widgets to the dashboard.
Step 3: Knowing Advanced Tab Options
- The Advanced tab is arranged in two sections:
1. Camera Feed
-
- Displays live and historic video feeds from connected cameras.
- Useful for real-time monitoring of operations, security, or remote asset management.
- Can be integrated with surveillance systems for enhanced visibility.
- Selecting a Data source will prompt for the steps for viewing the feed live.
2. Set Point Control
-
-
- Allows users to adjust live parameter-based channel values.
- Enables real-time input control for automated systems.
- Useful for setting thresholds, modifying operational parameters, or fine-tuning system behaviors.
- Detailed Steps are given in the Widget Configuration.
